ESSENTIAL FUNTIONS

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:

Assures accuracy and confidentiality of patient files by filing documents in a timely manner and maintaining patient files per departmental policy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintains patient confidence and protects clinic operations by assuring all information is kept confidential
  • Releases information based on department protocol and follows and complies with all legal requirements
  • Ensures availability of medical records by routing to providers and support staff in a timely manner
  • Pulls patient charts for reports as required or requested
  • Files completed reports in patient charts
  • Answers incoming telephone calls and messages in a timely and professional manner
  • Pulls the patient’s chart to answer any questions or concerns
  • Pulls patient charts, attaches prescription requests and directs to the appropriate provider
  • Copies and faxes patient medical records requests and STAT medical records requests to outside providers
  • Assures compliance with al HIPPA requirements
  • Purges and maintains charts by repairing/cleaning worn or ripped charts
  • Covers appointment desk when required or requested

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates in in-services/education regarding Quality Improvement
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned or requested

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalency
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to file both alphabetically and numerically
