ESSENTIAL FUNTIONS

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:

The Dental Front Desk Clerk provides clerical services for the Dental department by assisting patients’ with scheduling, billing and informational needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Coordinate and maintain an efficient appointment scheduling system and dental record functions with all Dental Providers
  • To ensure proper patient flow, maintain an open line of communication with the Dental Director and the clinical staff as to changes in patient appointments due to unforeseen circumstances
  • Answer telephone, make appointments and explain charges to patients in a courteous, friendly and accurate manner
  • Call patients to confirm their scheduled appointment
  • Pull/file patient’s dental charts for each day’s scheduled appointments
  • Register patients, verify current patient information, and verify insurance with various insurance groups
  • Discuss pricing for treatment plans with the patient. Inform patient of payment policies and refer patient to Patient Account Specialist, if necessary
  • Receive payment for services rendered, provide a receipt to the patient and discuss individual pre-payment needs for impending services
  • Enter daily encounter data into computer, by respective provider, with current patient information, payor codes, charges, and procedures
  • Update and file registrations in a timely manner
  • Balance daily total charges from encounters to charges entered into the computer
  • Prepare daily deposit and deliver it to the appropriate personnel for deposit into the bank
  • Receive prescription refill requests and call in prescriptions and/or refills for patients as directed by the provider
  • Under the direction of the Casa Grande Front Office Manager, develop and implement an appropriate patient recall system
  • Under the direction of the Casa Grande Front Office Manager, coordinate accounting and billing functions with other departments
  • Purge patient dental files on a regular or as needed basis

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) helpful
REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalency
  • One year experience as a cashier/receptionist in a medical facility or public contact position
